A TaxDome alternative that reads the statements.
TaxDome is practice management: CRM, signatures, invoicing, workflow, and a white-labeled client portal. LedgerBox collects financial documents and extracts verified data from them. If your bottleneck is the practice, compare seats and workflow. If your bottleneck is getting statement data into the books, compare what happens after the client uploads.

Where it falls short
Facts with sources, not opinions about the company.
-
Bank statements are documents TaxDome requests and stores, not data it extracts. Its own pages describe requesting statements from clients; none describes turning a statement PDF into transaction rows.
“Request W9s, 1099s, bank statements, and more.”

-
No page on the pricing, document-management, client-portal, or bookkeeping-hub pages mentions reconciling extracted data against statement balances, and its quality-control feature is listed as coming.

What LedgerBox does differently
Each line describes what the product does today. The prices come from the same plan definitions the pricing page reads.
- The statement becomes rows
- LedgerBox extracts every transaction row from an uploaded statement, checks the rows against the statement's printed balances, and flags what it cannot verify. The document is the input, and verified data is the output.
- Self-serve, monthly, cancel in the app
- Plans start at $17 a month billed yearly, with monthly billing available on every plan. There is no demo call, no upfront year, and no multi-year commitment. Settings, Billing opens the portal where you cancel yourself.
- Pages, pooled, with unlimited users
- The meter is pages processed, pooled across every client. Users are unlimited on every plan, so a seasonal preparer does not need a seat bought for them.
- The portal is included
- Every paid plan includes the branded client portal with checklists, due dates, reminders, and secure messages. It covers the document-collection half of what a firm uses a portal for.

Questions people ask
Does LedgerBox replace TaxDome?
Only if what you use TaxDome for is document collection. LedgerBox has no CRM, no e-signatures, no invoicing, and no engagement workflow. It collects documents through a branded portal, extracts and verifies the data, and posts it to QuickBooks Online. Firms whose bottleneck is practice management keep a tool like TaxDome for it.
What does LedgerBox do that TaxDome does not?
It reads the statements. TaxDome requests and stores a bank statement; LedgerBox extracts every transaction row from it, checks the rows against the statement's printed balances, flags what does not tie, and posts approved rows to QuickBooks Online as balanced journal entries.
How do the prices compare?
They are shaped differently. TaxDome is $800 to $1,200 per seat per year billed upfront, with the advertised prices requiring a 3-year commitment. LedgerBox is $17 to $239 a month billed yearly for the whole firm, with unlimited users and pages pooled across clients.
Can I try each before paying?
TaxDome's plans point at a sales demo, and its pricing page states no trial terms. The LedgerBox trial is 14 days and no credit card. It opens at 10 pages, and inviting a colleague, posting about LedgerBox, or writing a review opens all 200. Excel, CSV, and JSON work from the first document; the accounting file formats need a paid plan.
