LedgerBox

Questions about LedgerBox, answered.

LedgerBox converts financial documents into spreadsheets. These are the questions people ask before they try it: what it reads, what it will not read, how the numbers are checked, what it costs, and what happens to your files. Where the answer is no, it says no.

Documents and file types

What file types can I upload?
PDF, JPEG, PNG, HEIC, and HEIF. A digital PDF is read directly and a scan or a phone photograph goes through OCR, then both convert the same way. No other format is accepted, including WebP and TIFF.
Can LedgerBox convert a CSV to QBO, or an OFX to CSV?
No. LedgerBox reads PDFs and images. It does not accept CSV, QBO, OFX, QFX, or QIF files as input.
Which documents does it read?
Bank statements, brokerage statements, invoices, receipts, pay stubs, purchase orders, W-2 forms, 1099 forms, check images, merchant statements, and plain tables in a PDF. Each type has its own extractor and its own set of fields.
How many files can I send at once, and how large?
Up to 20 files in a single drop, and each file up to 8 MB. A statement covering several months is one file and converts as one document.
Does it work with my bank?
Yes. Extraction reads the statement itself rather than matching it against a per-bank template, so an institution with no published guide converts exactly the same way as one with a guide.
Can I email documents in instead of uploading them?
Yes. Every workspace has its own forward-to address, so you can send a receipt or an invoice straight from your phone and the attachment is processed like an upload. A confirmation comes back when the documents land.

Accuracy and checking

How do I know the numbers are right?
Every document is checked against the totals it prints itself. On a bank statement, the transactions must carry the opening balance to the closing balance. On an invoice or a purchase order, the line items must add up to the printed total. On a pay stub, gross pay minus deductions must equal net pay.
What happens when a row cannot be verified?
It comes back flagged for review rather than returned as certain. Nothing is silently corrected and nothing is quietly dropped. You see which rows failed their own arithmetic and why, and you decide what to do about them.
Does a person check my documents?
No. LedgerBox has no human review step. A flagged row waits for your review.

Exports and accounting software

Which formats can I export?
Excel (XLSX), CSV including the QuickBooks 3-column and 4-column layouts, QBO for QuickBooks Web Connect, OFX, QIF, and JSON. Every spreadsheet export puts one transaction on one row, with separate date, description, debit, credit, and balance columns.
How do I get a statement into QuickBooks?
Download a QBO file for QuickBooks Web Connect. You can also connect QuickBooks Online and post approved transactions.
Can I get an OFX, QFX, or QIF file?
LedgerBox exports OFX and QIF files. It does not export QFX files because they require a licensed institution ID.
Is there an API?
Yes. The REST API returns structured JSON. The TypeScript SDK and MCP server call the same API. Each response includes the document state and flags.

Trial, pricing, and billing

What does the free trial include?
14 days and no credit card. It starts at 10 pages, and inviting a colleague, posting about LedgerBox, or writing a review opens the full 200 pages for the rest of the trial.
How is it priced?
Per page of document processed, on a monthly or annual subscription. Plans start at $25 a month for 60 pages. The pricing page lists every tier.
What counts as a page?
A page of a document, as the document itself counts them. A 12-page statement is 12 pages whether it holds 40 transactions or 400.
Can I cancel?
Yes, from the billing page inside the application, without writing to anyone. There is no cancellation flow that requires a conversation.

Security, privacy, and deletion

Are my documents used to train models?
No. LedgerBox stores and processes documents in the United States. Customer documents do not train a model.
Does LedgerBox have a SOC 2 report?
No. LedgerBox does not have a SOC 2 Type I or Type II report. Contact us if your vendor review requires a signed report.
How long are my documents kept?
Workspace documents stay until you delete them. App deletion removes workspace access. Contact LedgerBox to erase the stored file and extracted rows.
Who else touches my data?
LedgerBox uses service providers for hosting, sign-in, payments, email, and analytics. QuickBooks receives only the transactions that you post. The privacy policy lists each provider.

Longer answers

What happens to an uploaded document, in detail, is on trust. What the company is and what it does not do is on about. Plans and what a page means for billing are on pricing. The library answers the questions about the documents themselves rather than about this product. Anything still unanswered goes to contact.

Or skip the reading and convert one document.

14 days, no credit card, and you can export the result and check it against the original yourself.
