An AutoEntry alternative for statements.
AutoEntry, now part of Sage, is a capable invoice and receipt tool with a large install base among accounting firms. The mismatch is bank statements: they cost 3 credits a page against 1 credit for a receipt, which makes statement work the most expensive thing you can put through it.
Every AutoEntry fact on this page was read from their own site and confirmed on August 21, 2026. Sources are linked beside each one.

What AutoEntry does well
This section is here because a comparison that only lists faults is not a comparison.
-
Invoices and receipts are 1 credit each, which is competitive: AutoEntry's credit model is priced against the documents most firms handle most.

Where it falls short
Stated as facts with sources, not as opinions about the company.
-
Statement pages are the most expensive document type on the platform at 3 credits a page, so a 40 page statement spends 120 credits, more than twice the entire Bronze allowance.

-
Credits expire after 90 days, so buying ahead for a busy season and using it late means paying for work that was never done.

-
A credit is spent per page rather than per page that produced rows, so pages carrying no transactions are charged the same 3 credits as pages that do.

What LedgerBox does differently
Each of these is something the product does today. Prices come from the same plan definitions the pricing page reads.
- One rate for every document type
- A page is a page. A statement page costs what a receipt page costs, which on LedgerBox plans works out at $0.11 to $0.42 a page depending on the step you pick. There is no multiplier for the document type that made you buy the product.
- Nothing expires early
- The allowance resets when the billing period does, and there is no credit balance to lose. Processing pauses at the allowance and offers the next step rather than billing an overage.
- Failed pages are not charged
- Pages are metered once, when extraction finishes and succeeds. A run that fails posts no charge and its pre-flight hold is released, so a document we could not read does not come off your allowance.
- Balances are checked
- LedgerBox sums the rows it extracted and compares them to the statement's own opening and closing balances, then flags anything it cannot verify for review.

Questions people ask
How much does AutoEntry charge for a bank statement page?
3 credits a page. At AutoEntry's published rates of $0.19 to $0.26 a credit depending on plan size, that is $0.57 to $0.78 for one page of a statement. A receipt is 1 credit, so statements cost 3 times what the cheapest document type costs.
What does a statement page cost on LedgerBox?
Between $0.11 and $0.42, depending on which page step you buy and whether you pay monthly or yearly. The rate is the same for every document type: a statement page and a receipt page cost the same, because both are one page.
Do LedgerBox pages expire?
No. There is no credit balance to lose. The allowance resets when the billing period does, and past the allowance processing pauses and offers the next step up rather than billing an overage or charging a surcharge.
Is AutoEntry better for anything?
For invoice and receipt volume, its credit model is priced well at 1 credit a document, and every plan includes unlimited users and unlimited clients. If statements are a small part of what you process, the 3 credit page rate may never matter to you.
