Getting statement data into QuickBooks Desktop
LedgerBox does not write IIF files. Try the available QBO Web Connect export with QuickBooks Desktop. You can also import CSV or Excel files.
What you can do today
No QuickBooks Desktop file
Try the QBO Web Connect file LedgerBox already exports, which QuickBooks Desktop can read through its own Web Connect import. Failing that, export a CSV or an Excel workbook and map the columns yourself. A purpose-built IIF file is planned and is not here yet.
The layouts you would be mapping
LedgerBox does not create a QuickBooks Desktop file or connect to QuickBooks Desktop. Use the available export method shown here.
Getting data into QuickBooks Desktop today
-
Convert the statement in LedgerBox
Upload the PDF and review anything flagged. Balances are reconciled before the document is marked clean, whichever file you take away afterwards.
-
Download the QBO file first
It is the closest thing we ship to a desktop import, and it needs no column mapping at all. One file covers one account and one statement period.
-
Fall back to CSV or Excel
If your QuickBooks Desktop edition will not take the QBO, the published five-column layouts are the reliable route, mapped in the importer.
The QuickBooks files that do exist today: QuickBooks export files
Import notes
Review the available spreadsheet option and the planned format checks.
IIF format
IIF is Intuit's tab-delimited format for QuickBooks Desktop. Accepted rows differ by version. LedgerBox does not publish an untested IIF layout.
Manual import
LedgerBox does not connect to QuickBooks Desktop. Download the export file and import it in QuickBooks Desktop.
Planned format checks
LedgerBox will add the format after it can create and import the file in QuickBooks Desktop. The transactions must import with the correct values.
QuickBooks Desktop FAQ
Does LedgerBox export an IIF file?
No. An IIF export is planned and does not exist today. The QuickBooks files LedgerBox writes are a 3-column CSV, a 4-column CSV, and a QBO Web Connect file, all documented on the QuickBooks exports page.
Will the QBO file work with QuickBooks Desktop?
It is the closest file we ship, and Web Connect import is a desktop feature, so it is the first thing to try. Whether your edition accepts it is between the file and your install, which is why the CSV and Excel layouts are documented as the fallback.
Is this the same as the QuickBooks Online integration?
No. The posting integration connects to QuickBooks Online, not to Desktop, and it writes journal entries into a company in the cloud. Nothing in LedgerBox connects to a desktop install.
Clean rows first, then import them anywhere.
Upload a document and download the export in under a minute. No card required.
