There is no Sage file and no Sage connection. What there is: a CSV and an Excel workbook whose columns we publish exactly, which is most of the work of importing into Sage already done. The rest happens in Sage's own import screen.

No Sage file

Export a CSV or an Excel workbook from LedgerBox and map the columns yourself in Sage's own import screen. The LedgerBox column layouts are published, so the mapping is a known quantity rather than a guess. A purpose-built Sage file is planned and is not here yet.

Date, description, debit, credit, balance, one row per transaction. The layouts are published, so nothing about the file is a surprise.

Sage's importer is where our column names meet its fields. Set up once per bank account and the following months are a download and an upload.

Worth knowing before you import

What we do not ship is as worth stating as what we do, because finding out later is the expensive way to learn it.

The mapping happens on their side

Which columns Sage accepts is Sage's to define, and it changes between products and editions. We publish our own layouts precisely and do not publish a mapping into theirs that we have not tested, because a confident wrong table would cost you an afternoon.

There is no connection to set up

LedgerBox does not sign in to Sage, does not post to it, and does not sync with it. Nothing runs in the background. You download a file and import it, which also means nothing reaches your books that you did not put there.

Why it is not here yet

A file format ships once we can verify it end to end: generate it, import it into Sage, and see the transactions land correctly. Until that is done, the honest option is the one above, and this page says so rather than listing a format we have not proved.

Sage FAQ

Does LedgerBox integrate with Sage?

No. There is no Sage connection and no Sage-specific export file. The one posting integration LedgerBox has is QuickBooks Online. Getting rows into Sage today means exporting a spreadsheet and importing it there.

Which columns should I map in Sage?

Our side is fixed and published: date, description, debit, credit, balance. Which of those Sage wants, and under what names, depends on the Sage product and edition, so we point you at its importer rather than printing a mapping we have not tested.

Is a Sage export planned?

Yes, and it is not here. It ships once we can generate the file, import it into Sage, and confirm the transactions land correctly, which is the same bar every export format has to clear.
