Getting statement data into Sage Business Cloud
Sage Business Cloud is a different product from the desktop Sage line, and LedgerBox ships a file for neither. The route is the same in both cases: a spreadsheet whose columns we publish, mapped once in the importer at the other end.
What you can do today
No Sage Business Cloud file
Export a CSV or an Excel workbook from LedgerBox and map the columns yourself in Sage Business Cloud's own import screen. The LedgerBox column layouts are published, so the mapping is a known quantity rather than a guess. A purpose-built Sage Business Cloud file is planned and is not here yet.
The layouts you would be mapping
LedgerBox ships no Sage Business Cloud file and no Sage Business Cloud connection today. This page describes what there is instead.
Getting data into Sage Business Cloud today
-
Convert the statement in LedgerBox
Upload the PDF and review anything flagged. Balances have to add up before the document is marked clean.
-
Download a CSV or an Excel workbook
Five columns, one row per transaction, debits and credits kept apart. Both layouts are published in full.
-
Import it and map the columns
The mapping is set up once in Sage Business Cloud rather than repeated per statement.
Worth knowing before you import
What we do not ship is as worth stating as what we do, because finding out later is the expensive way to learn it.
The mapping happens on their side
Which columns Sage Business Cloud accepts is Sage Business Cloud's to define, and it changes between products and editions. We publish our own layouts precisely and do not publish a mapping into theirs that we have not tested, because a confident wrong table would cost you an afternoon.
There is no connection to set up
LedgerBox does not sign in to Sage Business Cloud, does not post to it, and does not sync with it. Nothing runs in the background. You download a file and import it, which also means nothing reaches your books that you did not put there.
Why it is not here yet
A file format ships once we can verify it end to end: generate it, import it into Sage Business Cloud, and see the transactions land correctly. Until that is done, the honest option is the one above, and this page says so rather than listing a format we have not proved.
Sage Business Cloud FAQ
Does LedgerBox connect to Sage Business Cloud?
No. There is no connection and no Sage Business Cloud export file. QuickBooks Online is the only posting integration LedgerBox has. Today you export a spreadsheet and import it yourself.
Is this the same as the Sage page?
The route is the same and the products are not. Sage Business Cloud and the desktop Sage line accept different imports, and since we ship a file for neither, both pages describe the spreadsheet route rather than pretending to know each importer.
Is a Sage Business Cloud export planned?
Yes, and it is not here yet. It ships once the file can be generated, imported, and checked end to end. Until then this page describes what actually works, which is the CSV and Excel route above.
Clean rows first, then import them anywhere.
Upload a document and download the export in under a minute. No card required.
