What a CSV file is
A QBO file holds its transactions as OFX tags, so a spreadsheet opens it as one long column of markup. The converter reads the tags and writes a date, description, and amount column, plus a check number column when the file has one.
Dates come out as YYYY-MM-DD. Excel and Google Sheets read that as the day it says in every locale, which a slashed date does not.
What the conversion keeps
A CSV file has a place for some of what a QBO file holds and not for the rest. Both lists come from the two formats, so neither can claim something the file cannot say.

Why are some amounts negative?
A negative amount is money out of the account. The converter keeps the sign the QBO file states rather than splitting the rows into two columns.
