What a CSV file is
The converter reads the D, T, P, M, and N fields out of each QIF block and writes a date, description, amount, and check number column. Categories, cleared flags, addresses, and splits are dropped: a CSV has no column for them, and half-carrying them would be worse than leaving them out.
Dates come out as YYYY-MM-DD, which Excel and Google Sheets read as the day it says in any locale.
What the conversion keeps
A CSV file has a place for some of what a QIF file holds and not for the rest. Both lists come from the two formats, so neither can claim something the file cannot say.
